State Arts Council Announces Cultural Facilities Grants

CONCORD, NH At its May 15th meeting, the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts voted unanimously to award $15,000 in Cultural Facilities grants to three organizations:

  • Concord Music Club, Concord, to support the renovation of the Annicchiarico Theatre;
  • Friends of the Colonial Theatre, Bethlehem, to install a drainage system; and
  • Haverhill Heritage, Inc., Haverhill, for the purchase and installation of a lighting system at the Alumni Hall Cultural and Interpretive Center.

 Applicants for these grants are nonprofit organizations that own or manage a cultural facility and have at least one year of arts programming at the time of application. Funding for these grants--other than those that make the facility physically accessible to people with disabilities--is contingent upon the facilities being compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 This “bricks and mortar” grant category is funded solely with state funds. Nearly $50,000 was requested. This round of grants was particularly competitive due to a required reduction in fiscal 2009 appropriation for this type of grant.

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts encourages New Hampshire residents to discover our cultural heritage and support our creative economy by attending an event this season.  You can search for events on our Arts Calendar at http://nh.artscal.org/
